Are you a small business owner looking to grow your following on Instagram? You came to the right place! Marketing on Instagram can be tricky. There are a lot of businesses on Instagram fighting to be seen. We’re here to help your business stand out and STICK in the mind of your ideal customer. Below are 6 easy ways to grow your business on Instagram through Sticky Marketing.

1. Pick a Sticky Profile Picture

One of the first things people see when they view your Instagram is your profile picture. This is what they see when you reply to comments and direct messages. Ideally you want a profile picture that sticks in the minds of your audience and creates a sense of trust.

If you have a business logo, this would be a great option as a profile picture. It shows the customer exactly who you are and what to expect from your business. Using a logo that is consistent with your business makes your profile stick in the minds of your ideal customer.

If you are an influencer or small business owner, it would be a great idea to use a picture of yourself with your product or service. This creates a sense of connection with your ideal customer. They can see the face behind the business, securing a sense of trust. Your face sticks and they will want to know more about you and your business.

2. Have a Bio that Encompasses Who You Are As a Business

Your Instagram bio is the first thing customers will read when they click on your profile. This is the place to grab their attention and show them WHO YOU ARE! What is your product? Where are you located? What does your business believe in? Why should people buy from you? How can they contact you?

There are many different ways to write a good Instagram bio. Making it STICK is the real challenge. Laterblog has a great blog post on making a good impression through your Instagram bio.

3. Choose Sticky Colors

Color makes a huge impact on what your audience feels when they view your profile. For example, red is bold, powerful, and passionate. On the other hand, blue is calm, relaxing, and intelligent. Each business is different so it is important to conduct your own research and pick colors that match your business and what you want your ideal customers to feel. Try thinking about if your ideal customer would purchase something bold or something that feels safe.

After you have selected your ideal colors, it’s time to create an aesthetic. This means deciding on colors, texts, and types of photos that will remain consistent in your Instagram posts. Below are some examples of different aesthetics.

It’s important to remember that your Instagram aesthetic portrays to your customers what your business is all about. Is your business messy and unorganized? No, of course not. If your business is organized, original, and colorful, then your posts on Instagram should be organized, original, and colorful.

4. Create a Consistent Posting Schedule

One of the easiest ways to halt your businesses growth is to stop posting on Instagram. The second you stop posting is the second your customers start forgetting you, (that means you stopped sticking!) This is the perfect time for competitors to sneak in and steal your business. We don’t want that for you! In order to avoid this, you need to create a consistent posting schedule, a schedule that sticks. Posting schedules are different for every business. Typically you should start posting three times a week and post at least once a day on your Instagram Story.

Posting on the right days at the right times makes a huge difference! Luckily, with Instagram Business Accounts, you can easily view what times your followers are more active on Instagram and you can adjust your posts accordingly. Buffer Library is a great resource to learn how to find this information.

5. Make Sticky Reels

The only way to be seen on Instagram in 2022 is to make Instagram Reels. Instagram is completely different today than it was a few years ago. Jumping on the Reel Trend can, and will, boost your brand awareness and your Instagram reach.

The first step to posting a reel is doing your research. A great way of conducting research is by checking your competitors reels. What kinds of things are they posting and what is getting the most views and interactions? What trends are popular in your niche? DON’T just copy any popular trend. Trends attract an audience but inapplicable trends to your niche don’t attract your ideal customer, they do the opposite. They attract viewers instead of customers. The best thing you can do for your business is create Reels that consistently attract your ideal customers. Do they like humor, professionalism, or creativity? Create a reel accordingly.

Once you’ve done your research, it’s time to start creating. Start filming your product and your customers. Make something that encompasses your business and grabs attention. Start with recreating popular trends in your niche and go from there. The more you post, the more you can track what works and what doesn’t. As you gather these metrics you can adjust accordingly and really make your Reel STICK! 6. Use Trending Hashtags and Audios

Hashtags and audios make a HUGE difference on Instagram! Instagram tracks trending hashtags and audios and promotes these posts organically. Researching and using the right hashtags and sounds is vital to Instagram promoting your content. Imagine how sad it would be if you were to make and post perfectly sticky content only to be brushed under the rug by Instagram’s algorithm. Luckily there are a lot of great resources, and even better, we can help you too! (See Below!)
